With EU support green camp was organized for young leaders and innovators from Keda municipality
Young leaders and innovators from Keda municipality attended Green Camp organized under the EU-supported CENN project “Keda LEADER” during June 25 to July 4 at the Bulachauri Green Center.
21 winner students of the youth competition “Me LEADER” were part of the 10-day intensive camp course. The environmental specialists delivered lectures on a different topics such as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), global challenges of a climate change, sustainable forest management, modern technologies and approaches in waste management sector, water and sanitation issues, urbanization and regional development. Invited guests presented the new opportunities for youth such as the largest countrywide environmental competition named after Niko Ketskhoveli, joint photo competition of National Geographic Magazine Georgia and CENN – “Birds, our flying friends”, and the global “Diamond Challenge” for the high school entrepreneurs.
The camp participants also visited Lagodekhi National Park, had a workshop on a safety in a wilderness provided by the experienced hikers and a lesson on a local biodiversity. During the stay in Lagodekhi, participants had a meeting with the Local Action Group of Lagodekhi and learned more about their experience in EU ENPARD program.
After the two-day camping, participants had a workshop on a project proposal development and learned how to present their ideas and initiatives in an effective way, and on a final day, participants had an idea pitching contest. All the participants of the camp will after its completion become the Green Camp alumni and will be actively engaged in CENN’s all youth initiatives in Keda and countrywide.
The project, Keda Leader, is implemented with the financial support from the EU by CENN in partnership with the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), Institute of Democracy (IoD) and the Austrian Institute for Regional Studies and Spatial Planning (ÖIR).
The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million (2013-2022). The main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge
